It is the responsibility of each team to arrange their own accommodation. I hope you find the information below helpful in deciding how to plan your weekend.

One thing to think about when booking accommodation. If you use the same place for the weekend, remember that we race around a giant loop. The start and finish are within 4 miles of each other. However, the stop over point on the Saturday night is over one hours drive from the start.

Where to Stay

To download an interactive brochure (on MS Word) with the information below, just click on the headline, or just use the same information as I have presented it below

The information below contains general information to help you plan your weekend. I hope you find it useful. Each headline provides a link to more details and how to book. If you find any broken links, please e-mail me sean.davis@lycos.co.uk .

The details have been extracted from websites with a few comments added. I have put a rough guide to what prices start from.  Some Notes

Essex is the overnight rest for the race and for many teams the only practical option is to stay locally.

The pretty little village of Blackmore hosts the finish of Stage 11 at approx. 19:40 on Saturday evening, with the last runner coming in about 18.00. Blackmore then hosts the start of Stage 12 at 8:00 sharp on Sunday morning.

Blackmore village has some lovely country pubs but limited accommodation and so most teams make the 10 mile journey to the nearest large town - Chelmsford, or Brentwood which is only 5 miles away (Dartford is 25 minutes away, over the QEII Bridge, and there are other options). These all offer plenty of Hotels, B&B's and motels at reasonable prices, and a few too many distractions for the evening entertainment.

On a personal note, my preference would be to camp. Taking some supporters with me and sending them ahead to Kelveden Hatch to set up the tents, get the B-B-Qs going and having the beer and wine flowing when I got there. Mostly the weather is wonderful, but I would bring a place to hide under just in case. My own club has never allowed me to do this. However, this year I hope to change their minds.
