RACE TRAFFIC:   Leg 17   Boxhill  to  West Hanger

Traffic can follow runners to 1.9 miles at bottom of Boxhill. Do not follow runners after 1.9 miles. In 1999 the single track road up onto Ranmore Common got jammed and cars were delayed by over an hour.

To jump to the end of the leg. Follow A24 to Dorking, then A25 west through Gomshall and past Shere.  Half a mile after the first turning to Shere and just before the second one, take the narrow road to the right.  Follow this road uphill for approx a mile. Turn left at the top of the hill. The finish at West Hanger is just on the left. 

To support runners, continue south along A24 past Denbies Wine Estate and then right and up onto Ranmore Common to join the runners again at 4.95 miles (see runner’s maps), the runners come from the road on the right, and go through the carpark on the left and off-road onto the North Downs Way. Runners stay off-road till the finish. So please supply water to all runners, if you are supporting here.

From carpark to the finish. Turn left out of carpark and continue straight on, for about 3.5 miles to T-junction. Turn sharp left and continue for 3 miles to West Hanger.  Beware, the right turn to the carpark at West Hanger is a blind right turn.
